My first quarter of graduate school is in full swing, and I am beyond busy. I never thought I could squeeze so many hours of reading in to one week, but I impress myself. Ryder has started daycare, and he loves it. He comes home with a new art project daily, and we have proudly displayed them all on the wall above his bed. He went on a fieldtrip with his class today to the pumpkin patch. I have been sad all day that I didn't get to go along, but I know he will have fun anyway. He told me this morning that he was going to find a 'nice pumpkin'. I can't wait to see it!
The weather in Seattle has been so beautiful! I keep waiting for the gloom to appear like everyone tells me it will, but so far it's been perfect.
We may be crazy, but I think we will be moving apartments in the next few weeks. We were given an opportunity that is hard to pass up! Ryder will have his own room, and I will have a dishwasher. What more could we need? It will also be in a nicer, quieter part of town AND it's cheaper. I'll keep you updated on that.
I start actual therapy next week, and I'm quite anxious to have the first session completed. Everyone tells me not to be nervous, but that's just impossible. I just hope I don't vomit on my poor client!

The Fair!
We heard that the Puyallup Fair was one of the biggest fairs around, and let's face it, Jay and I cannot not turn down a fair. We rode the bus there. What could have been a 45 minute drive turned in to a 3 hour bus adventure! It wasn't so bad. We familiarized ourselves with the bus system and had some good laughs along the way. The fair was fun, but it's no Great State Fair of Oklahoma. Really, we love the Oklahoma fair. Here are a few pictures of our day!

It's not big, but we actually love it alot. It's very cozy, and I've had fun decorating the new place. I'm in the process of making curtains that help to brighten the rooms up a bit. They are adorable so far!

Pictures!

We have adjusted quite well to life in the city. I love it even more than I thought I would!
I'm meeting several girls from school tomorrow to "ride the ducks", and I'm super excited to get to know the girls I'll be spending the next two years with. Everyone seems so friendly so far! Will post more adventures soon!

Settled
I can finally say we feel settled. It is a welcome feeling after two weeks of a more homeless lifestyle. Our stuff arrived Tuesday night at about 6:00. It was like Christmas...for the first few boxes anyway. After unwrapping my 465869869 glass, I was over it. Ryder had a blast playing in all of the paper, and I had a blast throwing boxes full of paper off my balcony at Jay!
Mostly everything is unpacked and in its new place. I will post pictures of our new cozy( that's a better way of saying tiny, right?!) new apartment.
I am officially enrolled in graduate school and am anxiously awaiting September 27th when I actually get to start. I'm a little nervous but mostly excited. I'm so thankful that Jay and Ryder are here with me. I don't think the cross-country move would be quite as exhilarating without them.
Ryder is completely at home here! He has been Skyping with my in-laws and calling his "Mo" on his pretend phone daily. Their conversation goes a bit like this, "Hello, ummm, yea, eight, seven, fives, five dollars, yea, Mo, byebye."
He makes us laugh with his silly little ways. A few days ago we asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up. Jay and I know that he doesn't really understand our questions, but we like to hear the response anyway for entertainment purposes.
I ventured out on my own in my car for the first time today. I was *almost* succesful until my hubcap fell off, and I proceeded to run over it. meh.
By the way, Ryder wants to be feet when he grows up :)

New City!
welllll we have actually made the big leap to our new city. We left a lot of friends and family behind in Oklahoma, so I've decided to blog a bit about our new adventure.
To catch you up, we've been in Seattle for almost two weeks now. We aren't settled in to an apartment yet due to the fact that it is taking for.ev.er for our shiz to arrive. Jay, Ryder, and I have been living out of a hotel. Now I usually love hotels. And I usually love going out to eat, but I just want my bed and some friggen home made spaghetti. Is that too much to ask? It's almost over though...tomorrow is the day the moving truck arrives.
So far we love it here. It's been sunny and beautiful and not 105 degrees. It's a lot different than home, that's for sure. We walk. We recycle. We wear jeans in August.
Week 1: We felt mostly displaced and disoriented. Ryder kept asking to go home, and that made us sad. After a few days he adjusted well, and the time change wasn't so bad. Jay didn't have to work, so we tried to get all of our touristy urges out...because you know, it won't be cool to do those things once we officially live here. We ate lots of fried seafood (they call shrimp 'prawns' here?), rode the ferry to Whidbey Island, saw the Space needle, Pike's Place Market, Mukilteo, and downtown Seattle. There is just so much to do here!
Week 2: We finally feel more settled. We even got Washington IDs! My ID is super silly, because the lady made me move my bangs. Now my ID displays a crazy bang swoop that you cannot help but laugh at. Perhaps I'll post a picture. Luckily the man who took my student ID picture didn't hate bangs so much :) Ryder has lots of energy and no backyard in which to exert it, so we have been visiting as many parks and playgrounds as we possibly can. He digs it. Today we met a two year old with an English accent and it was quite precious. Yesterday we climbed a cool tree. Who knows what tomorrow will bring!
